In June, it looked like some of our chicks were going to be roosters instead of hens, so we decied to buy a few more. We have been pleased with how fiendly the Buff Orpingtons are so got 4 more Orpington chicks from a lady in Blackfoot. One is a Blue color, two are Black, and one is a Splash coloring (white with a "splash" of blue and/or black feathers). They were about 4 weeks old when we got them. They were still quite a bit smaller than our other chicks so after a few nights in the house we moved them to a portable pen in the yard. (Yeah! No more chicks in the house!)

Pretty soon we noticed that one of the black ones was not looking like the others. It has feathered legs(Orpingtons have clean legs) and the coloring on the head and chest was different.
Now you can see the comb is different as well. It might be a different breed or it might just be a mix. We use to call them the Four Orpintons. Now they are The Orpies and The Not-an-Orpie.
