Grandma Visits Missouri

Grandma Becky ("Bunka") came to visit for spring break. The weather acted just like spring. The second day and the last day we were in the 70's. We had one day of snow that started in the 30s (luckily it melted off the same day), a day or two of clouds, and one of rain. Some days there were cold winds, other days a warm wind, usually changing over night. Overall, the quick changing weather Missouri is famous for.

One of our first stops was the little Audubon Society feeding station in Fleming Park to see what birds were in the area enjoying the feeders. Grandma was very excited to see some ways to keep the squirrels out of the feeders and couldn't wait to try them out at her house when she got home.

Life is so simple for a two year old. The perfect rock! and he is a happy boy. (Of course he was chucking them all over the parking lot and hit our van with one as well. This boy is All Boy for sure!)

One of the projects was painting the master bedroom. The children loved putting on their grubbies and helping out. (Everyone but Andrew got to help paint.)

For Family H0me Evening (it might have been Wednesday evening, but we are still counting it) we went to the park by Bass Pro and had a picnic.

Makala has started track and thought she would challenge the "Old Man" to a race. (She was wearing flip flops and decided to run without them.) Daniel did not allow the fact that he was wearing cowboy boots stop him from accepting the challenge . . .

or from winning the race!

Caleb is making quite a splash with the young women in the ward and stake. He is quite popular at the stake dances.
Trying to feed the geese

The geese have returned and will be nesting soon.

Andrew has discovered the camera and insisted on taking this picture. A bit of an angle, (and a little cropping from mom), but not bad for a beginner. (Even more amazing is that he can hold still long enough for it to focus.)

Shooting at the laser gallery is a pretty fun treat.

And of course we had to show Grandma the hundred pound catfish.
And a type of Gar (Spotted? Alligator?).

On the last day we went out to Burr Oak Nature Center and took the Nature Path with the different trees. Now wearing shoes, Makala challenged Joseph to a race.

Taken inside the Nature Center . . .

A red ear slider turtle (if I remember right!)

Another shot taken by Andrew gives a rather unique perspective. Most of his "my turn!" takes end up in the digital trash can, but this one was a keeper. (Having a digital camera is a lot of fun, because you can take as many shots as you want without wasting film. By the way, no Photo Shop editing. This is exactly how the picture was taken.)

A quick tea party with Grandma and then out the door to the airport.

A shot of the Kansas City Temple being built as we passed on our way to the airport.

'Bye Grandma. Thanks for coming!
