Summer is almost over!

Well, the last few weeks we have enjoyed time at the pond, gone through a summer cold, celebrated two birthdays, and did some marathon shopping to get ready for school to start! It is hard to believe summer is almost over and we have not done as much as we wanted. This has to be the shortest summer break ever! We are not ready to quit having fun and go back to school. Most other moms are counting down the days, but here at the Baker House we are dreading the start of school. Going back to school means time to get back on schedule and get organized (not exactly my strong points); Early mornings seminary and home work (We are so not looking forward to homework!); and it will sadly cut into our family out-of-doors time (even with all the bug bites, we have so much fun swimmin' in the pond, catching frogs, and taking walks.) Going back to school means it will soon be getting dark earlier with shorter days, and less play time.

We tried a different digital camera from a friend and it really does not take good pictures. The pictures from our last adventures didn't turn out at all. We will have to start a quest for a new camera. But Makala really enjoyed taking some friends out frog hunting with her father a week or so ago. Hanna and Joseph went as well and had a great time. The frogs were HUGE!

Andrew is getting big. He is started walking. He is so cute! and so very proud of himself! Andrew can climb up or down the stairs quick as lightening and has the range of the whole house. Joseph is inching up on his brother, and slimming down. They were the same size clothes and shoes now. Hanna is taller and excited about her teacher for the year. Rebecca is full of beans, lots of questions, and tons of energy! Caleb enjoys scouts and mutual and has a great Scout Master. He is making friends and loves to play video games, as does Joseph.

Daniel is still working a second job on the weekends while we play financial catch up. (Anyone want to buy a house in Preston, Idaho? We have one we would love to sell!) I enjoyed making Teanna a pioneer dress to wear for her Pioneer Trek, and am now switching sewing gears to do some sewing for school clothes and Sunday dresses for the girls. Hanna and Rebecca helped to pick out fabric for new skirts and are excited!

Only one more week until school starts. So far we have two swim parties and a hike planned. We are going to make the most of the last week of freedom!

  1. Only one more week of summer vacation? Seriously? Wow, school starts early there! My kids don't start until August 27th, a few days earlier than they started last year. I welcome the return to schedules and routines, but I will miss the early sunrises and late sunsets. My best wishes to all the kids for a great school year!
